Privacy Policy

NoiseDrop ("we," "us") is an ambient soundscape app at www.noisedrop.app. This page explains what information we collect when you use it, in plain language, matching exactly what the product actually does.

What we collect

NoiseDrop does not require an account, an email address, or any personal information to use. What we do collect:

• Anonymous usage analytics (via Vercel Web Analytics): page views, and a small set of named events — a session starting, a first sound playing, a scene being generated, a scene being shared, a featured environment being played (tagged by its catalog name), and a Premium link click (noting whether it came from the Studio tab or the Mix sheet), and which of the four views (Home, Scenes, Library, Studio) was opened. Whether a session is from a new or returning visitor is also recorded.
• The descriptions you type: when you generate an environment, the text of your description is recorded alongside that event, together with the theme we matched it to. We use this for one purpose — to see which places and moods people are asking for, so we can build the sounds that are missing. It is not linked to you: there is no account, no email, and no identifier tying a description back to a person or a device. Descriptions longer than 200 characters are truncated. If you would rather not have a description recorded, use the featured environments instead of the text box — playing one records only its catalog name.
• Local device storage: saved in your browser's local storage, on your device only: your volume and spatial settings, the scenes you saved and recently played, the last scene you listened to for ten seconds or more (so Home can offer to continue it), whether you have listened here before, your Scenes filter and Library tab, an audio-mode preference if you change it in the Studio, and your Studio license key if you unlock it. A temporary copy of your current mix is held in session storage only while you switch audio mode. None of this is sent to us unless you explicitly create a share link.
• Fonts: the app and these pages load the Fraunces and Manrope fonts from Google Fonts, so Google receives your IP address and browser details when the fonts load.

We do not collect your name, email, or location. Apart from the descriptions described above — which are stored without any identifier linking them to you — we do not record what you type. We do not use advertising trackers, and we do not build cross-site profiles.

Payments

Premium purchases are processed entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card number, expiration date, or billing details — that information goes directly to Stripe under their own privacy policy.

Sharing scenes

When you tap "Share," we encode your current mix into the URL itself — the link is the data. We don't store shared scenes on a server; anyone with the link can decode what it contains, so don't share a link for a mix you'd consider private.

Cookies

We don't use cookies for advertising or tracking. Local storage (above) is used only to remember your own mix on your own device.

Data sharing

We do not sell your data. We do not share it with third parties except the service providers named on this page (Vercel for hosting/analytics, Stripe for payments), each acting under their own privacy commitments.

Children's privacy

NoiseDrop is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
